Why did I become a therapist?

I was always interested in healing and helping others and I thought about becoming a medical doctor, but several years after college I realized that I was more interested in how people felt about their illnesses than how to cure their bodies.

Eventually I realized that my gifts and abilities were well suited to being a therapist.

Why am I passionate about therapy?

It has been my privilege to help thousands of clients over the years experience profound transformations. My clients go from stuck to unstuck, become more accepting of themselves and others, learn to communicate more effectively, make peace with the past, and create a life filled with ease, love and joy.

I am still excited and energized by my work every day. I greet each client and every session with a smile. I can’t wait to see what will unfold in every meeting!

What is my therapy style?

I am proactive and very collaborative. I have trust in my expertise and truly love getting to know my clients and figuring out how to help them make the significant changes they want in the most efficient and effective way possible.

I aim to help them bring to fruition a life that sheds their habitual negativity and opens up to joy and positive presence.

What to Expect in Trauma & Anxiety Therapy In San Jose

What Can I Expect In Our Sessions?

  • We will first discuss your current issues and the past events which are important to address in therapy.. Together we will look at family history, recent and past areas of trauma or stress, and assess your functioning on several dimensions.
  • I ask a lot of questions and suggest hypotheses to be explored together. When I have enough information we will discuss an initial treatment plan.
  • Sessions usually start with a brief check in and update on what has happened since our last session. After that we decide what to prioritize. At the end session there may be a discussion of takeaways, setting homework goals, or practicing a relaxation technique.
  • If we are doing EMDR the next steps include getting ready for processing by making a list of memories to address and making sure you have ways to calm and relax between sessions.
  • If we are doing CBT we will establish specific goals that are based on your desired changes in behaviors, thoughts, and feelings.
